About Nathan
Nathan Saxon is a 27 year old race car driver and engineer from South Kingstown, Rhode Island, USA. Starting his racing career later than most, Nathan took no time getting up to speed, taking wins in his first full SCCA season in Spec Miata and becoming a regular podium finisher. Since then he has racked up wins and podiums in multiple series including during his introduction to Formula 4 racing in 2020, SCCA National Events in 2021, the Spec MX-5 Challenge Series in 2022 & 2023, and the Prodigy3 Championship in 2024. This includes being selected as one of 12 finalists invited to the Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout in 2022 & 2023.
One of the main goals Nathan has developed in racing is growing relationships at the track and introducing new drivers and fans to the exciting world of motorsport. This is one of the driving forces behind expanding his driver coaching reach, passing down the techniques and values he has learned to embrace in his time racing.
In the process of growing his racing career, Nathan has paid close attention to the importance of marketing both his personal brand and any potential partners of his program. His social media accounts, in particular his Instagram and Tiktok, have seen continuous growth and interaction documenting his journey in the racing world. The main theme he tries to convey on these pages is one of humbleness and to show people that if you have a dream you can go get it.
Along with this, Nathan plans to continue to grow other forms of marketing including taking advantage of the amazing networking and exposure opportunities in motorsport. These opportunities will help drive customers to the companies that partner with him in the future, bringing Nathan Saxon Racing and it’s sponsors to new levels.
Marketing
Nathan started wheel-to-wheel racing in 2018 after only attending trackday and HPDE events up until then. He got his SCCA racing permit and competed in a short schedule of races including a few endurance events along with an SCCA regional.
In 2019 he committed to a full season of SCCA Spec Miata competing in a car prepped by Flatout Motorsports, the region’s biggest and best Mazda shop. He competed in all but one race weekend of the New England Regional Championship with a big first couple wins at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway and planting himself in the top 5 just about every race. In addition to this he continued to compete in club level endurance series such as the American Endurance Racing Series.
Racing
In 2020 he started the season with a team victory in his first Champcar endurance race at the famous Road Atlanta. While the rest of the world shut down starting in March, Nathan was continuing to improve his craft competing online in the SCCA eSports Super Tour and Skip Barber eRace Series. A 2nd place points finish won him the opportunity to race two rounds in the real life Skip Barber Formula 4 Race series. He began his formula car career with a podium in the opening round at New Jersey Motorsports Park and finished off the season with a dominating victory at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
2021 saw Nathan back in the Spec Miata full time with the destination being the 2021 SCCA Runoffs at Indianapolis. The season was up and down but saw him overcoming some setbacks with a podium in his first Hoosier Super Tour event, a clean sweep weekend at Thompson, and a 17th place out of 92 cars at his first SCCA Runoffs.
In 2022 he transitioned into the drastically growing and competitive Spec MX-5 Challenge presented by Toyo Tires. With a brand new car built by Flatout Motorsports and fighting through some setbacks along the way, he took the North Region Championship with 2 wins and 5 podiums on the season. He did this while also coaching the young, up and coming drivers also on the team.
This experience set him up to further his career in 2023 with a similar schedule in Spec MX-5 Challenge, landing him 3rd in National Regular Season points with 2 wins and 6 podiums in 10 regular season starts along with an invite as a finalist to the Mazda MX-5 Cup Shootout for the 2nd year in a row.
2024 also started with a test in an LMP3 car in Estoril, Portugal as part of the Muhlner Motorsport LMP Shootout program where I made it to the final 4 of 30+ participants while competing in the final in Barcelona. Starting in November of 2024, Nathan will race for Williams Racing in the first ever Prodigy3 championship.
In 2020 Nathan decided he wanted to give back to all the drivers that haven’t had the learning opportunities he has been able to have during his still relatively new career. Using his experience of holding a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he has been able to give both basic level and a more technical level of instruction to other drivers. He has helped multiple drivers find new levels of comfort and speed in club level racing using techniques ranging from data analysis to basic video, mindset and visual instruction. This has been proven with positive results as a coach for Mazda Motorsports North America, Flatout Motorsports, The Drivers Club at Thompson Speedway, and numerous freelance driver clients.
